Menopause

Our Complex Menopause Service is dedicated to helping women with serious medical conditions to manage their Menopausal symptoms.

Most patients, who are troubled by menopause symptoms, are able to receive advice and treatment in the community through their GP, Practice Nurse or Family Planning Clinic. Patients with certain medical conditions including thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease and hormone sensitive cancers, are advised to be seen by a Menopause Specialist to discuss management options.

The National Maternity Hospital’s Complex Menopause Clinic provides this service for women within its catchment area. Appointments can only be offered to suitable patients via GP referral. If you suffer from any of the conditions listed above and are a potential patient, please attend your GP first to see if you are eligible for referral.

Our catchment area for the Complex Menopause Service is the Dublin and South East Health Region. We are currently accepting referrals from South Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow. There are additional specialist Menopause services provided in the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin, Cork University Maternity Hospital, Galway University Hospital, The Coombe Hospital and Nenagh Hospital, Tipperary.

Dr Deirdre Lundy is the Clinical Lead of the service and runs the service along with Dr Nichola Cochrane and specialty nurses.
