How To Get An Appointment
All clinics are by appointment only. Your GP will give you a referral for an appointment at our Gynaecology Clinic at your GP visit.
Referrals are accepted only from medical professionals such as your GP or a consultant from another hospital.
There are many sub-specialty clinics within Gynaecology; your referral letter is reviewed (triaged) by a Consultant Gynaecologist to determine the most appropriate clinic for your care.
After We Receive Your Referral
You will receive a letter confirming that we have received your referral and that you have been placed on the waiting list for an appointment.
An appointment letter with the date and time will be sent to you by post (usually about 6 weeks in advance). You may also receive confirmation and reminder messages by text. How long you wait for an appointment depends on the clinic you require and your clinical need. The majority of women are seen within 3 months but some waiting lists run to a year.
Please note that different clinic specialities run on different days and times, so changes of appointment day or time may not be possible.
If you have a query relating to your appointment, please contact us using the contact details below. Failure to attend your appointment or cancellation of an appointment may result in you being removed from the waiting list.
While You Are Waiting
Please continue to attend your GP for medical advice while you wait for your appointment.
If your symptoms worsen or you are concerned about your waiting time, your GP can send an updated referral requesting your appointment be expedited.
Referrals from another hospital
The electronic gynaecology referral form should be completed and emailed to gynaeCRO@nmh.ie.
To avoid delays, referrals should include:
- Results or full reports of any investigations already completed
- Any relevant medical letters or correspondence
Incomplete referrals will be returned.
