Specialist gynaecology care for adolescents and young women aged 12–18 experiencing period or gynaecology concerns.

This clinic supports young women aged 12–18 with gynaecological concerns.
A referral from a GP is required to attend.
Patients under 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.
Ongoing care and transition to adult clinics is supported where needed.

Adolescent Clinic

The Adolescent Clinic provides specialist care for young women aged 12–18 who experience gynaecological problems. While serious conditions are uncommon, we recognise that these concerns can be upsetting and aim to provide appropriate assessment, reassurance, and care.

The clinic also provides ongoing support for adolescents who may need to transition to adult gynaecology services.

Conditions we see

Young women may be referred to the clinic for concerns such as:

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Absence of periods
  • Ovarian cysts

The clinic is run by Dr Venita Broderick.

Patients previously under the care of Dr Orla Sheil who require follow-up will be offered an appointment in Dr Broderick’s clinic.

How to Access the Clinic

Adolescents and young women experiencing period or gynaecological problems should attend their GP initially for advice. Your GP can refer you to the Adolescent Clinic if specialist assessment is needed.

Patients under the age of 16 must attend their appointment with a parent or guardian.
