Maternity Safety Statements
Maternity Safety Statements were introduced by the HSE in 2015 and are published monthly for each of the country’s 19 maternity hospitals and units. Each Hospital Group and Maternity Hospital publishes an updated statement each month.

IMIS Reports
The Irish Maternity Indicator System (IMIS) reports, published by the National Women and Infants Health Programme (NWIHP) are now collected and published quarterly. As the Maternity Safety Statements (MSS) are a subset of IMIS, the collection and publication of MSS has been discontinued.
About the data
The summary statistics presented reflect the most recent monthly activity at the National Maternity Hospital. These data are intended to provide reassurance regarding the quality and safety of services provided at the hospital.
The figures are not formatted to support comparison with other hospitals or aggregation with other datasets. As the National Maternity Hospital is a national tertiary referral centre with a complex clinical workload, comparisons with hospitals that have different patient numbers or service profiles are not appropriate.
