What To Bring With You To Hospital

  • Toiletries and towels
  • Sanitary wear
  • Nightwear, dressing gown, slippers
  • Spare underwear
  • Any current medication

Please leave jewellery and valuables at home.

Inpatient Surgery

  • Major gynaecology surgery usually requires an inpatient stay for 2 – 5 day stay depending on your health needs.
  • A follow‑up appointment will be arranged, and your GP will receive a letter about your admission.

Day Case Procedures

  • Most women are discharged 3–4 hours after the procedure.
  • Occasionally, an overnight stay may be required, so please plan childcare or home arrangements just in case.
  • Your partner or friend may phone the ward at 12:00 to check your expected discharge time, or you can contact them yourself.

Discharge

You must have someone available to collect you and drive you home. If you need a work letter, request it before you go home. Social welfare certificates are provided by your GP.
