Unplanned Pregnancy Support Services

Unplanned Pregnancy Support Services at The National Maternity Hospital

The National Maternity Hospital has for more than 100 years provided a range of women's health services, including a National Tertiary referral service for complex medical and surgical cases. As an organisation we continue to develop and pioneer new services in line with best medical practice and the law.

From January 7th 2019 we have been accepting referrals for elective abortion services under the Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018.

We are currently accepting referrals from General Practitioners and community based services such as the Irish Family Planning Association and Well Woman Centres, for women within our catchment area (South Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare).

To get a referral to our elective abortion service, or for further information on unplanned pregnancies, or on what to do if you are experiencing complications following an abortion, please call the My Options telephone line 1800 828 010, visit the website  www.MyOptions.ie or contact your GP or one of the community based services - details below.

Healthcare Providers please note:
If you are referring a patient after 11 weeks under Section 14 of the 2018 act (Early Pregnancy: less than 12 weeks), the referral must be discussed with the NMH to see if it possible to facilitate the woman prior to the 12 week legal limit.
